Review & Description
Have you ever wondered what Mr. Rogers would look like as an aardvark? You'll find out when this family friend comes for a visit in "Arthur Meets Mr. Rogers." Arthur's enthusiasm for this famous houseguest soon turns to embarrassment when his friends say Mr. Rogers is "just for babies." In "I'm a Poet," the library is sponsoring a poetry contest with poet Jack Prelutsky as the judge. When Fern lays a bet to submit an original poem or join the poetry club for a year, Arthur and his buddies compose poems about something they feel strongly about and discover a new appreciation for poetry in the process. In the final episode, a cancellation by Piccolo Pete leads D.W. and Francine to find very different replacement musicians. When Yo-Yo Ma and Joshua Redman are both invited to play at the library, the kids expect an epic battle between classical music and jazz. What they get is a new understanding of music and a fun jam session. Fred Rogers, Joshua Redman, and Yo-Yo Ma voice themselves, and Fred Rogers talks to children about how Marc Brown turned him into an animated aardvark. This entertaining, 41-minute video makes famous people accessible to children ages 2-7 and provides material for personal growth as well. --Tami Horiuchi Read more
